Our 2008 edition integrates all the latest applications and graphic environments with GNOME 2.20 and KDE 3.5.7. All of this contributes to making Mandriva Linux stable and powerful, and with cutting edge technology.

Simplified Migration from Windows to Linux

Mandriva Linux welcomes Windows users by offering them the possibility of transferring the main elements of their previous Windows desktop due to its efficient and useful Transfugdrake tool. You can migrate your files, e-mails, bookmarks and even your screensaver with one click.

Relax and listen / Sit back & watch

Discover the Fluendo plugins. Listening to music or watching films is no longer an issue, just run your film or song and enjoy. Fluendo Codecs are able to read many formats, from avi to mpeg.

Studio applications

You will find updates of all your favorite studio tools from music to video making with LMMS, Jahshaka and many others.

2.2. Menu Organisation

The main menu structure is now simpler.

You will notice that menus are contextual and adapt to the best applications available for the graphical environment you choose (KDE or Gnome). For example to launch Firefox you had to go through Internet+Web BrowsersMozilla Firefox while it is now: InternetMozilla Firefox.

2.3. Access to Windows Files

It is now possible to create and modify your Windows® files from within Linux. They are located in /mnt/windows.
